"Tropical
Solitude"
This
print is one of the most popular in the Gallery! I
think people are drawn to it's serene colors and simplistic form.
It epitomizes for many an idylic place to sit and ponder the day
away...with no traffic, loud noises, or interruption. It
has a great calming effect.

"Maui
Magic "
In
this image I wanted to capture what I think is one of
the most magical sights at the beach, the ever-moving
water and foam, a constant fluid source of energy. I
am always mezmerized by the water's ebb and tides and
consider myself very lucky to be able to hear the ocean
at night, through my window, lulling me to sleep.

"La
Perouse Bay"
I
painted this image in a very large size, and when it
hangs on the wall, it really gives you a sense of walking
on the water. La
Perouse Bay is in one of my favorite places in the world,
Makena, Maui, birthplace of my mother and most of my
Maui relatives. I always feel a sense of peace
and well-being here, a kind of coming home feeling.

"A
Little Slice Of Paradise"
This
porch looks so inviting, and I was lucky enough to get
to sit in one of those chairs and take in a beautiful
sunset one late afternoon in sunny Kona on the Big Island.
At one time this house was a bed and breakfast
on the Island of Hawaii, and my husband and I got to
stay there over a long three-day weekend. I couldn't
wait to paint it and capture the image, so it would
stay fresh in my mind for the years to come.

"Alau
Island"
Alau
Island can be found in Hana, Maui. It is a beautiful remote
spot just a little further down the road from Old Hana Town.
If you ever make your way there one day, you can count
yourself among the lucky ones on the planet.

"Maui
Sunset"
This
painting is of my Aunt and Uncle's backyard in Makena, Maui.
They are fortunate to have such a wonderful spot in the
world. It has been the place where the family always gets
together for New Years, Christmas Eve and happy occasions such
as marriages and luau's. It has been in their family for
decades and was the birthplace of my grandfather. His
grandmother lived there before that....now that's a legacy.....too
far back for me to remember when it wasn't a part of the family
heritage. It will always be a special place to me...a
haven of family history and of many of my most treasured Maui
moments.

"Canoe
Club"
These
racing canoes reside in Kihei, Maui. Canoe
racing has always been a big sport in the Islands, and
each Island has several teams representing different areas.
Every year there is a big race where teams
from all the islands and teams from as far as Tahiti,
Australia, and California come and compete in the Moloka'i
Hou. This race starts on the Island of Moloka'i
and finishes up on the Island of Oahu on sunny Waikiki
Beach.

"Coconut
Cove"
This
is one of my most recent works. I loved the leaning
palm tree in this scene. It bends into the picture as
if the wind, water and sun have sculpted it into place. The
palm trees in the background make a cool inviting get away from
the midday sun. The black lava rocks on the beach make
a perfect contrast to the white sandy beaches. If you
look real close you will see the remnants of an old stone wall
behind the white boat.
|
"Blue
Lagoon"
I
liked the calm lagoon pictured in this painting. It is
actually made up of fresh water, so it doesn't really fit into
the Seascape category. In the foregound are the brightly colored
ti leaf plants that can be found throughout the Hawaiian Islands.

"Keanae
Hala"
These
trees are called Hala trees, and this scene is in Keanae,
Maui. The Hala trees are most useful for their long,
reed-like leaves which are dried and used by Hawaiians
and many other Polynesian societies for weaving their
mats, hats, bags and other useful items. The small
island in the back was the island they filmed to make
the famous movie Papillon, or at least that was
what one old timer told me. I hope he wasn't
pulling my leg!

"Serenity"
Another
beach scene taken out of Hana, Maui. These two twin palms
reside on Hamoa Beach. After a long walk down the
stairs from the road, you encounter this scene at the bottom
of your journey, right before your toes hit the sand.

"Hamoa
Sunset"
This
is another painting of Hamoa Beach in Hana, definitely one of
my favorites. There is no better place to while away the
long, sunny days of Maui.
